Great hike! Amazing views! Not crowded either, at least when I went. Pretty easy hike, with hills but they level out pretty often so you can catch your breath. The round trip maybe took 2 hours at my pace, which is pretty quick I think. Kids over 7 or 8 could make it on their own I’m sure. I wouldn’t recommend trying a stroller (which I did see on struggling on the trail)… At any rate, happy trails all!

Awesome hiking area with a fantastic view. This must be pretty when the fall colors hit. There's plenty of parking. The hike to the rock is through the woods, so it's shady and a good breeze come in. It looks like this is a very popular hike, so you'll meet people a lot while hiking. The total hike is around 4.5 miles, but it felt like 5 or more.

Hi everyone..... Hiking is so much fun. Great for your body, excellent cardio and stunning views. Each trail has different things to offer. I hiked this trail to Annapolis Rock many years ago but I never made it to the peaks. We always stopped short. Seems like Eva and my family preferred the route to Washington Monument which is much further away but less steep and much easier to climb. This trail to Annapolis Rock is very rugged more for intermediate hikers. I enjoyed it so much. There is a lot more wild life such as deer and birds singing squirrels climbing trees and the view is very nice. If you want to hike it bring lots of water and if children join be prepared to carry them or go at a very slow pace. Either way... The hike and view is worth it.

If you're looking for some good fall views right now, I'd highly recommend! Only downfall is parking was looking full around 830. When we left at 1130, it was chaos in the lot. But the views were pretty good! It's a bit of a distance to get up to the two lookouts with dog stops, snack breaks, and picturesit took about 3 hours in total. If you go early in the morning I might suggest going to the further lookout first so there's more time for the fog to burn off but even if you just go to Annapolis rock it's quite nice views with the fog.

Absolute serenity. Peace and quiet with clouds at my eye level. Only person on the black rock cliffs for entire lunch break. Great cell phone reception to brag about my view. Then home with an inner contentment long lasting.

Great hike, definitely some up hill climbs, but not difficult if you're at least somewhat in shape. It can get extremely windy, and on a cold day you'll need to bundle up!!

One of the best hikes to see, especially during the autumn. The parking lot easily fills before 9 AM (especially on a busy weekend), so make sure to get there early. Otherwise, one can find parking on Canada Hill Drive.

I definitely enjoyed this hike up to the first overlook that was the Annapolis Rock. There is a pretty steep incline early on, but afterward, the hike is pretty easy. I definitely recommend taking it easy if it's a hot day, but this trail is relatively easy even for inexperienced hikers if they pace themselves. The group I was with also took several breaks. We also saw some rock climbers, which was pretty cool. If you're into birding, which I am, I recommend this area however apparently there are snakes, so stay on the trail paths. If you're into foraging, which I am this trail is great too, we came across May apples that were not quite ripe and some wild Black raspberries that were ready to eat. We washed em and had a few, very tart, but I recommend. If you arrive early, of course, parking should not be an issue. We arrived at 9:30 and the lot was practically full.
